Who Sits on The Throne of Your Heart?

Published June 9, 2016 | By Sheri Allen-Curvin

Alas, it happened! All that you had been praying for, waiting for, and expecting God to do for you has arrived! However, after a few months, the novelty of it all begins to wear off and you find yourself in the same place of discontentment, despondency, discouragement, and depression that you were in prior to the blessings being released in your life. How can this POSSIBLY BE? This can happen when our heart has been convinced that material things and circumstances have the power to fill voids in our lives that only God himself can fill!

Women, a husband, a child, a house, career advancements, and even ministry advancements cannot fill the emptiness that we experience at times. God has allowed the emptiness to exist as a means of drawing us closer to Him. Many of us have allowed our craving for THINGS to become our central focus and thus have ejected God from sitting on the throne of our hearts! This is why once we have obtained the things that we always desired our happiness only remains momentarily.

Material possessions will decay and people who we have pledged our allegiance to may disappoint us, however, God will always be a present help for us in our time of trouble. When God is allowed to sit on the throne of our hearts, “life can happen”, but we will not allow it to damage our positive outlook or our faith in God’s sovereignty.

Remember this: (Isaiah 6(b)-8) NLT “people are like the grass. Their beauty fades as quickly as the flowers in a field.

The grass withers and the flowers fade beneath the breath of the Lord. And so it is with people.

The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.”
