"Lessons From Moana"

One of my 4 year olds favorite Disney animated films is Moana. I have watched it so many times with him that many of the song lyrics and scripting have become etched in my memory.

On one viewing occasion, a particular scene stood out to me and the Lord began to speak to my heart. In the scene, the heroine, Moana, confronts Taka; a perceived monster who was raging with fury. Fearlessly, Moana walks toward Taka melodiously signing these words:

“I have crossed the horizon to find you; I know your name.

They have stolen the heart from inside you,

“But this does not define you

This is not who you are; You know who you are”

Moana, then does what no one else was willing to do….she TOUCHED Taka in the exact place of her hurt; thus restoring her heart. Taka then transforms back into the beautiful goddess that she was created to be.

Wow! What a superb depiction of what many women have experienced in life!; the invasion of a selfish intruder stealing, breaking, corrupting, or damaging our heart and leaving us in an unrecognizable state. The experience caused us to momentarily forget who we were.

Sadly, onlookers judged, criticized, and labeled us being completely ignorant of the events that left us in the state of vulnerability that caused to release negative behaviors. They perceived us to be something that we were not. If only someone would just take a closer look with the discerning eye of God and allow Him to use them to touch us where we hurt! One touch…the right touch….. will heal us and restore us back to our original glory and beauty!

Today’s post serves as the touch that you need to heal your heart and to remind you of who you are! Your circumstances DO NOT DEFINE YOU!

Whether single, married, divorced, financially secure, or economically challenged; you are not defined by these situations.

Do NOT allow what someone else has done to you or what they may have said about you cause you to act out of character and forget who you are. Acting out of character is NOT who you are; You know who you are and so does God!

As a reminder, God says that you are:

More than a conqueror through him that loved you(Romans 8:37) Heir of God and joint heir with Christ (Romans 8:17) Fearfully and wonderfully made and that right well (Psalms 139:14) I command your heart to be healed in Jesus name and to flow in the beauty of his holiness and righteousness!

Remember this, God knows your name and has not forgotten about you!
